Temporary visa for international students who have recently graduated from an Australian institution.

The Temporary Graduate Visa (Subclass 485) allows international students who have recently graduated from an Australian educational institution to remain in Australia temporarily to gain work experience. There are multiple streams including the Graduate Work stream, the Post-Study Work stream, and the Replacement stream — each with different eligibility criteria and visa durations.

Eligibility requirements

  • Completed an eligible Australian qualification in the last 6 months
  • Met the Australian study requirement (minimum 2 academic years)
  • Competent English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent in each band)

  • Meet health and character requirements
